THE GRANARY is well positioned for visits to several of Kent's
National Trust properties, including
- Sissinghurst, Bodiam Castle, Scotney Castle Garden and Smallhythe Place
- Hever Castle, Penshurst Place and Chartwell can also be visited in a day trip
TENTERDEN, known as The Jewel of the Weald is a 20minute drive from
THE GRANARY. In addition to its charming high street, full of delightful independent shops, cafes and restaurants - Tenterden is also home to the wonderful Kent & East Sussex Steam Railway, stretching over 10miles between Tenterden and Bodiam Castle. The stunning National Trust property Smallhythe Place is also located inTenterden, as well as the world famous Chapel Down Winery (which supplied William & Kate's Wedding tipples!)

CANTERBURY
Historic Canterbury is an easy day trip from THE GRANARY. In addition to its iconic cathedral dating back to 1070, it’s beautiful streets and quirky shops, it also boasts an enchanting network of waterways - perfect for taking a relaxing boat trip
WHITSTABLE
The seaside town of Whitstable is definitely worth a visit and is within easy distance for a day trip. Located 5 miles north of Canterbury, it’s famous for its Native Oysters.
The Whitstable Oyster Co is one of only a handful of restaurants worldwide farming their own Oysters in sustainable beds
The restaurant is wonderfully rustic and right on the beachfront
RYE AND CAMBER SANDS
The beautiful medieval town of Rye and the sandy dunes of Camber Sands are also worth a day trip.
Whilst located in East Sussex, they are only a short drive on from Tenterden.
Rye, with its beautiful cobbled Mermaid St, was once famous for its smugglers.
With its many interesting shops and restaurants, it’s a lovely place to spend the day - and worth taking the short 5minute drive onto Camber Sands. With its 5 miles of beautiful sandy beach, it's perfect for a lovely long walk or simply lazing in the dunes
